Wait... I can protect my pet’s transport the same way as I would if I were flying?

ABSOLUTELY! Here at Signature Pet Transport we are excited to offer our own in-house pet travel insurance. It’s trip protection for your pet’s transport.

We understand that LIFE HAPPENS. Sometimes, the puppy you had your heart set on won't be available to fly on the day you had planned. Or they became ill, you became ill, or there is a delay caused by weather during the trip and now your pet must stay overnight in a hotel.

Possibly having to re-book flights or cover expenses beyond the estimate can be a financial strain for most pet owners. That is why we decided to offer this service at a reasonable price for our clients’ added peace of mind.

5 reasons why you should protect your pet’s transport with our pet travel insurance

1. Get back up to 100% for covered trip interruption*, including covered illness or injury of you or your pet prior to the trip; loss of an immediate family member; and more that causes you to cancel or reschedule your transport.

Hadley the Bearded Collie puppy was scheduled to travel cross country from her breeder to her new family. A week prior to departure, her breeder took her to the veterinarian. She had a stomach bug. Given the short time until the travel date, the vet recommended we delay her trip by a week. Luckily, Hadley’s new mama had included our trip protection insurance when she booked her transport a month prior. We were able to rebook the flights for the following week. All her new mom had to cover was the small difference in airfare.

2. Protection for your pet’s belongings that are lost, damaged, stolen, or delayed while they are traveling.

If your pet’s favorite toy gets lost or damaged, no problem! Your pet travel insurance will make sure you can replace it.

3. Reimbursement for eligible* lost, pre-paid trip expenses, such as your initial deposit and prepaid airfares due to a covered delay or cancellation.

Bang the Boston Terrier was scheduled to travel overseas. However, his international health clearance from the USDA was not received in time. This caused the trip to require a cancellation of his flights. Unfortunately, that same airline didn’t have pet-in-cabin availability for the rescheduled trip date. Another airline was chosen and new flights had to be purchased. Since it was so close to the travel date, the cost of airfare was much higher than usual. Bang’s parents didn’t have our trip protection insurance for their transport. Our transport contracts state that deposits may be transferred, but prepaid airfares are non refundable or transferable.  As a result, Bang’s parents had to pay the total amount of the new airfare and a rescheduling fee. If they had included our pet travel insurance at the time of booking, they would simply have paid the difference in airfare for the new travel date.

4. Help when your pet needs it: 24/7 veterinary assistance with FirstVet in the event of a travel or medical emergency for your pet.

FirstVet is an on-call, 24/7/365 veterinary chat & video consultation service. They provide professional advice, treatment recommendations, and referrals to a nearby animal clinic by a licensed veterinarian.

5. Most importantly, your peace of mind is PRICELESS.

Knowing that your transport is covered by travel insurance gives you extra confidence to know that your precious pet will be taken care of should any delays happen.

Whether international or domestic travel, insurance should be on your ‘to-do’ list and a must for everyone regardless of the type or place of travel, say experts.

*A covered trip interruption would be an injury or illness that causes your pet to be unable to travel on the date of their transport; loss of your pet or an immediate family member; international travel documents become delayed; weather conditions cause your pet’s trip to be delayed and an overnight hotel stay is required. Please see your transport proposal and contract for more details.
